Well...last night i watched the movie United 93...It's kinda sad...if u don't know its about 9/11...United 93 was the plane that crashed into Shanksville, Virginia. This movie mad me stop and think about 9/11 and most importantly how it affected us and those around us.... To the families who lost loved ones on those planes...I'm preety sure they think about them a lot....its like an empty spot in their heart that's never going to be filled again...
I remember the first anniversary....the whole school had gone outside and we had a memorial service...then years after that we just had moments of silence and a little speech over the PA system or on the TV....they usually lasted about 5 minutes....Its kinda wierd how we get out of dchool for President's Day...but not 9/11...On President's Day we 'acknowledge' certain presidents that are gone...but on 9/11 we still have school...just remembering why this day is important for only 5 freakin' minutes and get on with our lives....We usually study certain president's during the school year anyway...like during and social studies class...
My point is...why got to school on 9/11 and not on President's Day? On President's Day nobody died...but on 9/11 about 3,000 people died and we should take a day out of our lives to remember where we were or what we were doing on 9/11. To me Presidnet's Day is like an excuse to have a holiday...where as 9/11 (Patriot's Day) is quite fresh in some people's minds and shouldn't go by with just a crappy speech made by some staff member in the school office...but I'm just one voice in a billion...
